Buy a natural diamond stud pair here and you can trade the stones toward a larger or higher quality natural diamond pair whenever you are ready, applying their full value to the new stones. Start at half a carat, move up when a birthday or an anniversary makes it the right moment. The program covers the diamonds themselves rather than the settings, and it applies to natural diamond studs and natural diamond engagement rings — not to lab grown, hoops, drops or clusters.

Where the Choice Matters Most

Lab grown diamonds share the same chemical, physical and optical properties as mined diamonds, including the same hardness. Earrings are where that matters most, because carat weight is essentially the whole purchase and nobody inspects earrings at arm's length the way they study a ring on a hand.

Where they differ is price and long-term value, and the upgrade program above applies only to natural stones. Plenty of clients buy lab grown for size and natural for the pair they intend to keep. Both are here, both are labeled, and our GIA Graduate Gemologists will put them side by side under magnification so you can decide with the stones in front of you. Who We Carry

Diamond earrings at SVS come from DeBeers Forevermark, Gabriel & Co., Shy Creation, Roman & Jules, Monte Luna and Everlee, alongside our own SVS Exclusive Collection. Everlee works exclusively in lab grown diamonds; the rest span both.

Documentation varies by piece. Some diamonds carry independent grading reports, Forevermark pieces come with the brand's own documentation, and others are accompanied by a written appraisal from us. We will tell you which applies before you buy, and our master setter Oscar H. — 25 years at the bench — sets and finishes work here in Oceanside, including resetting stones you already own.

Keeping Them Safe

Prongs on studs wear faster than most people expect, because earrings catch on hair, collars and pillows every single day. A loose stone costs very little to tighten and a great deal to replace, so bring your earrings in for a check whenever you are passing. We re-tip prongs, replace posts and backs, and repair hoops at the bench here, on pieces bought anywhere.
