Where a piece lands above that depends on your metal, the size and quality of your center stone, and how intricate the design is. We price it in front of you as the design develops, so there is nothing to be surprised by at the end, and no down payment is needed to start.

Is custom designing more expensive?

Not necessarily, and often the answer is no. Because the design, setting, and finishing all happen at our Oceanside workshop, we eliminate the markup that comes with outsourcing a piece start to finish. This allows us to offer exceptional craftsmanship at prices that are frequently comparable to, or even less than, purchasing a similar ready-made piece from a designer brand. Custom jewelry is more accessible than most people expect.

How long does the Forever Custom process take?

Most Forever Custom pieces take four to six weeks from your initial consultation to the finished piece. Simpler designs can be completed in as little as two to three weeks, while more intricate work takes longer. When you meet with our team, share any timeline you are working toward, whether a proposal, a wedding, or an anniversary, and we will tell you honestly what is possible before you commit.

Can I sit with the jeweler while my piece is being made?

Yes, and we genuinely love it when you do. Pull up a chair at our bench and watch Jorge craft your piece. See Oscar set your stones. Witness your diamond placed for the very first time. Or if you'd rather relax, settle into our coffee bar with a fresh-baked cookie and the game on the big screen, and we'll bring you to the bench any time you'd like to see how it's coming along. Can I use my own gold and stones in the design?

Absolutely, and we encourage it. Bringing your own diamonds, gemstones, gold, or existing jewelry into a custom design is one of the most meaningful things we do. Our master jewelers handle every client stone with the same precision and care as if it were our own, and your stones never leave our care throughout the entire process. Can I do this fully remote?

Yes, we work with custom jewelry clients from across the country and are fully set up for virtual consultations. All design reviews, 3D renderings, and approvals can be completed remotely. Your finished piece will be carefully packaged and shipped directly to you. Many of our most treasured custom pieces have been created for clients who started the entire process from the comfort of their own home.

Do you offer lab grown diamonds for custom?

Yes, we offer the complete Forever Custom design experience with lab grown diamonds. Lab grown diamonds share the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as natural diamonds, and they allow many clients to achieve a larger or more impressive stone within their budget. Whether you want a lab grown diamond as your center stone or as accent stones throughout your custom piece, our team will help you select the right stone for your design.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, cash, and checks. Special financing options are also available, allowing you to get started on your design without paying the full amount upfront. Financing terms are discussed during your consultation. No down payment is required to begin the design process. In some cases there is a deposit required for complex designs.

Do you include insurance appraisals with custom designs?

Yes, we include a complimentary insurance appraisal with all custom engagement rings, wedding bands, and pendants or earrings valued over $2,000. For other custom pieces, free insurance appraisals are available upon request. Your appraisal documentation will include a detailed description, photographs, and the certified replacement value of your finished piece.

Do you offer a warranty on custom pieces?

Yes, we stand behind everything we create. Every custom engagement ring purchased at SVS is backed by the Preferred Nationwide Lifetime Warranty, which covers lifetime inspection and cleaning, tightening of diamonds and gems, minor re-tipping of worn prongs, one resizing after the original, and replacement of round diamonds up to 0.20 ctw. It applies to natural diamond, lab grown diamond, and gemstone engagement rings created through our Forever Custom process, and stays active with an inspection every six months. What is the difference between custom jewelry and designing my own ring online?

Our online ring builder allows you to select from existing settings and pair them with a diamond or gemstone of your choice. It is a fast, self-directed experience ideal for clients who love an existing design and simply want to choose their stone. Forever Custom is a true from-scratch design process where you work one-on-one with our design team and master jewelers to create something that has never existed before. No template, no catalog, no existing design. Your piece is built using CAD/CAM design software, reviewed as a full 3D rendering, cast in your chosen metal, and finished by our master jewelers in our Oceanside workshop.
