Every photo on this page shows a design with a representative center stone. The one we build for you holds your diamond, at your carat weight, in your shape, sized to her finger. That is the part a website cannot really show you, which is why most people end up sitting down with us before they decide. Out of the area? Setting Styles
Engagement Ring Settings by Style
Most people arrive knowing roughly what they like without knowing what it is called. Here is how the six styles we carry actually differ, and who each one tends to suit.
Solitaire. One stone, nothing competing with it. A plain band and four or six prongs, which is why a solitaire setting shows more of the diamond than any other design and why it is the most common choice for a larger center stone. It also sits flattest against a wedding band.
Halo. A ring of small diamonds circling the center stone. The halo makes the center read noticeably larger from across a room, which is why it is the style people choose when they want presence without buying a bigger stone. It works particularly well with oval, cushion and emerald centers.
Three-stone. A center diamond flanked by two side stones, usually tapered baguettes, pears or rounds. The side stones add width across the finger and carry the meaning people attach to the style. Popular for anniversary upgrades as well as engagements.
Pave. Small diamonds set into the band itself, so the metal nearly disappears under light. Pave adds sparkle along the whole finger rather than concentrating it at the center. Comes in single row, double row and micro pave, and the band width changes the look considerably.
Bezel. A rim of metal wrapping the edge of the stone instead of prongs. The most protective setting we make, and the one we recommend for people who work with their hands, wear gloves, or have caught a prong setting on clothing before. Modern in look and nearly impossible to snag.
Cathedral. Arches of metal rising from the band to hold the center stone, like the shoulders of a cathedral window. The arches lift the diamond higher and add architecture to the profile view, which is the angle most settings ignore.

Yes, you can buy an engagement ring setting only. Every design on this page is sold as a setting on its own, which the trade calls a semi mount, and you supply the center stone. That might be a diamond you buy from us, one you already own, or a stone inherited from family. We size the setting to your diamond and set it at our own bench in Oceanside. If you are starting from scratch, search our loose diamonds first and bring the two together.

How Long It Takes
Same Day, or Two to Six WeeksIf the sample in our showroom already fits your stone, we can set it the same day. If the head has to be made to hold your carat weight or shape, and on designer settings that is common, the usual timeline is two to six weeks, depending on the designer's production schedule. A ring designed from scratch by our own Forever Custom team is finished within four weeks, because that work happens at our bench and not theirs.
