Stephen Wilson Art
Authorized Stephen Wilson Studio Gallery · Long Island
Stephen Wilson is a mixed-media artist whose work lives at the intersection of traditional craft, modern technology, and sustainability. From his 15,000-square-foot studio in Charlotte, North Carolina, Wilson creates one-of-a-kind textile artworks using up-cycled luxury materials — bags, boxes, silk scarves, and vintage album sleeves are deconstructed and transformed into canvases for richly textured embroidery stitched directly into the surface. The work fuses influences from the Arts & Crafts movement and pop iconography in the tradition of Rauschenberg and Warhol — layered with appliqués, patches, butterflies, florals, and pom-poms individually stitched and placed by hand.
SVS carries the Stephen Wilson Studio collection in two scales: the artist's Petite 5" x 5" pieces at $300 — the entry into the work, perfect for shelves, bookcases, and gallery-wall starters — and his larger 12" x 12" and 12" x 26" originals from $1,000 to $2,000, the statement pieces that anchor a room. Every piece arrives framed in clear acrylic, presented in luxurious packaging, and signed and numbered by the artist to ensure authenticity. The result is a piece that's collectible, distinctive, and made to hang.

Where Craft Meets Technology Meets Sustainability
Stephen Wilson is a mixed-media artist known for his exploration of the intersection between traditional craft, contemporary technology, and pop iconography. Working from a 15,000-square-foot studio in Charlotte, North Carolina, Wilson combines hand-digitized embroidery design, machine stitching, found-object assemblage, appliqué work, and painting into pieces that fuse the Arts & Crafts and Decorative movement traditions with the language of modern and pop artists.
In Wilson's own words, every art piece "embarks on a journey, starting with an up-cycled luxury bag, box, silk scarf, or album." The source materials are sourced, deconstructed, and transformed into the canvas for the piece. Wilson designs a bespoke embroidery, hand-digitizes the threadwork, and assembles the final piece using a combination of 30+ different embroidery machines — commercial large-format machines, yarn embroidery machines, laser-cutting embroidery machines — alongside 3D printers and laser cutters. Appliqués, patches, butterflies, florals, and pom-poms are individually stitched out and placed by hand on every piece. The album series alone often features 200,000+ stitches per work and takes more than 8 hours of stitching to complete.
Sustainability isn't a marketing line for Stephen Wilson Studio — up-cycling is integral to the artistic process and ethos. Every finished piece is framed in clear acrylic, signed and numbered by the artist to ensure authenticity, and presented in luxurious packaging. The work has been collected and exhibited in galleries across the country.
