Solitaire, Halo or Station

A solitaire pendant is one diamond in a setting built to get out of its way. It is the classic milestone piece, and because nothing distracts from the stone, cut quality shows more here than in almost any other design.

A halo pendant rings the center stone with smaller diamonds. The halo makes the center read visibly larger and adds a lot of light for the carat weight, which is why it stretches a budget further than a solitaire at the same spend.

A station necklace spaces diamonds along the chain instead of concentrating them in a pendant, so the light catches across the whole neckline as you move. Stations wear more easily day to day and layer well with what someone already owns. All three sit differently on a neck, which is the argument for trying them rather than choosing from photographs.

Two Ways to Buy the Same Look

We carry both across the necklace collection, and we label them clearly. Lab grown diamonds share the same chemical, physical and optical properties as mined diamonds, including the same hardness. Side by side at the same carat weight, the eye does not pick out a difference.

Where they differ is price and how each behaves over time. Some clients want the largest stone their budget allows and go lab grown; others are buying something to pass down and want a mined diamond. Who Makes What We Carry

Gabriel & Co. designs in their New York atelier and uses recycled gold and GIA-certified diamonds, with a serial number and certificate on every piece. Their necklaces run from delicate solitaire pendants through halos and modern station designs. Shy Creation hand-sets natural diamonds in 14K gold and leans toward cluster and pavé work — a lot of sparkle at approachable price points.

Our SVS Exclusive Collection is the work of our own bench. Oscar H., our master setter, has 25 years of experience, and he is also who you see if you want a stone you already own set into something new. An inherited diamond reset into a pendant someone will actually wear is one of the better jobs that comes across the bench.

Service, Cleaning and Repair

Diamonds hold dirt and skin oil behind the stone where you cannot see it, and a pendant worn daily dulls faster than most people expect. Bring it in whenever you like and we will clean it. Free cleaning is open to every customer for as long as you own the piece, whether you bought it here or not.

We also re-tip prongs, tighten settings, replace clasps and repair chains at the bench in Oceanside, and we restyle older pieces.
