Description:
A Fire Polish round diamond at the center, surrounded and carried by 128 pavé diamonds in 14 karat white gold. Total weight is 2.64 carats. This is not a subtle ring.
Fire Polish, now sold under the name Facets of Fire, is a patented cutting technique rather than a treatment. Hundreds of thousands of microscopic nanoprisms are etched into the pavilion of a finished natural diamond, acting as facets within facets. They are far too small to see, including under a loupe. What they do is split returning white light into color, so the stone throws colored flashes where a conventionally cut diamond throws white ones. The GIA and the AGS both recognize it as an advanced natural diamond cutting technique, and it leaves the carat weight and the cut grade untouched.
It is also the rare thing in diamonds that you can settle in ten seconds. Put this stone next to a conventionally cut round of the same weight under the same light and the difference is visible without magnification, without a chart, and without anyone explaining it to you. We can set that comparison up at the counter.
The center stone is a 1.28 carat natural round brilliant. Around it, 128 round pavé diamonds add 1.36 carats, for 2.64 carats total. One hundred and twenty-eight stones is a great deal of hand setting, and it is what turns a 1.28 carat center into a ring that reads well over two carats across the finger.
