A cushion cut yellow diamond ringed in white diamonds and set in two-tone 18 karat gold. Yellow gold under the center, white gold everywhere else.
The color grade is the whole story. GIA graded this stone Fancy Intense Yellow, which is the second highest saturation band on the fancy color scale, above Fancy and below only Fancy Vivid. Color Origin reads Natural, meaning the color was not induced by treatment, and Color Distribution reads Even, meaning it is not concentrated in patches. Those three lines together are what separate a serious yellow diamond from a pale one with an optimistic description.
Most people have never seen a natural fancy color diamond outside a case. Roughly one in ten thousand diamonds has enough natural color to be graded fancy at all, and the great majority of those fall below Intense.
The center stone is a 0.70 carat natural cushion modified brilliant, Fancy Intense Yellow, VS2 clarity, with Faint fluorescence, GIA report 2175708671, inscribed on the girdle. Twenty-four round white diamonds form the halo and continue down the shank, adding 0.47 carats, for 1.17 carats total.
The two-tone mounting is doing deliberate work. Yellow gold sits behind the center stone and reflects back into it, which deepens how the color reads, while the white gold halo gives the eye a colorless reference point right beside it so the yellow looks more saturated than it would alone. A yellow diamond set in all-white metal fights itself.
