A pre-owned Rolex Day-Date 36, reference 18038, in 18k yellow gold, with its original box. This is the "President," the watch Rolex has only ever made in precious metal. The white dial carries applied yellow gold Roman numeral hour markers, with the day spelled out in full at 12 o'clock and the date at 3 o'clock under the Cyclops lens. The 36mm Oyster case wears Rolex's signature 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. It is finished on the 18k yellow gold President bracelet with a concealed folding Crownclasp.
Inside is Rolex's Caliber 3055, an automatic self-winding chronometer movement with quickset date. Water resistance is 100 meters. Dating to 1986, the 18038 belongs to the generation that brought the sapphire crystal and quickset date to the Day-Date. White Roman dial, yellow gold, President bracelet: it is the classic way to wear a Day-Date.
