A full carat princess cut diamond set above a hidden halo, in 14 karat white gold on a plain, unadorned shank. From the face it reads as a clean single stone. From the side there is a second line of light underneath it.
That is the whole idea of a hidden halo. A ring of small diamonds sits tucked beneath the center where you see them from the side rather than the top, so the ring stays minimal from above while the profile does something. If she likes a simple solitaire but finds most of them plain from the side, this is the answer to that.
Princess cuts are square, and a square stone covers more of the finger per carat than a round does, because a round has to give up its corners. That is why a 1.00 carat princess reads larger than a 1.00 carat round set beside it. The corners are also the vulnerable part of the cut, which is why this one sits in a mounting that protects them rather than leaving them exposed.
The center stone is a 1.00 carat natural princess cut. Beneath it, 0.07 carats of round accent diamonds form the hidden halo and continue across the bridge, for 1.07 carats total.
