What does the SVS Lifetime Warranty cover, and is there a cost?
There is no fee, no purchase threshold, and no expiration. The warranty is automatically included with every engagement ring purchased at SVS Fine Jewelry — in-store or online. Coverage includes lifetime cleaning and microscopic inspection, prong tightening and minor re-tipping, refinishing and polishing, stone tightening, round diamond replacement up to 0.20 ctw (natural or lab grown), and one complimentary resizing after the initial fitting at purchase. Service is performed by our in-house master craftsmen at our Oceanside showroom and is honored at any of the 125+ Preferred Jewelers International retailers nationwide.
Which engagement rings are eligible?
All engagement rings purchased at SVS Fine Jewelry are eligible — natural diamond, lab grown diamond, and gemstone engagement rings, in-store or online. The warranty does not extend to wedding bands, fashion jewelry, earrings, pendants, necklaces, or bracelets. For non-engagement-ring pieces, SVS offers complimentary cleaning to all customers at our Oceanside showroom — no warranty required.
Why do I need to bring my ring in every six months — and what happens if I don’t?
Six-month inspections are required to keep your warranty valid. Each visit includes professional cleaning, a microscopic check of every stone and prong, and an update to the Preferred Jewelers database. Preferred sends automated email reminders 30 and 14 days before each inspection is due. If your ring isn’t inspected for an extended period and shows wear, your warranty may lapse — any necessary repairs to bring it back to warrantable condition would be at customer cost. Once restored, the warranty can be reinstated.
What if I lose my warranty registration card?
Not a problem. Any Preferred Jeweler — including SVS — can pull up your warranty record by your last name and warranty number. If you don’t remember your warranty number, call Preferred Headquarters at 1-888-998-8874 or use the Find Your Warranty tool on the Preferred Jewelers International website. SVS customers can also stop by our Oceanside showroom and we’ll look it up for you on the spot.
I purchased my ring at another Preferred Jewelers retailer. Can SVS service it?
SVS performs warranty service on rings purchased at SVS Fine Jewelry. For rings purchased at another Preferred Jewelers retailer, we recommend returning to your original retailer or visiting another Preferred location for service — this ensures consistent care from the team that originally built or sold your ring. What if I move away from Long Island?
Your warranty travels with you. The Preferred Jewelers International network includes 125+ independent retailers across the United States, and your warranty record is accessible at any of them. If you can’t find one nearby, call Preferred Headquarters at 1-888-998-8874 and they’ll help you arrange service.
Does the warranty cover loss, theft, or damage?
No — the warranty covers maintenance and minor diamond replacement (round stones up to 0.20 ctw), but not loss, theft, mysterious disappearance, or accidental damage. Those situations require jewelry insurance. SVS works with Zillion and Jewelers Mutual as recommended insurance partners. We strongly recommend pairing your warranty with a dedicated jewelry insurance policy.
How is this different from the SVS Lifetime Diamond Upgrade Program?
Different programs serving different purposes. The Lifetime Warranty covers maintenance and minor diamond replacement on every engagement ring we sell — cleaning, inspection, prong tightening, refinishing. The Lifetime Diamond Upgrade Program is a trade-up benefit that lets you exchange your natural diamond center stone toward a larger or higher-quality natural diamond, with 100% credit on the original stone. The Upgrade Program applies only to natural diamond engagement rings and natural diamond studs; the Warranty applies to all engagement rings (natural, lab grown, and gemstone).
