Protecting the Natural World
We are especially proud of our associate with De Beers and their protection of the landscapes and ecosystems throughout the diamond-producing regions of Southern Africa and Canada. For every hectare of land used for mining by the De Beers Group, six hectares are dedicated to the conservation of nature. The De Beers Group has set aside around 200,000 hectares of land around its mines for this purpose. This includes a 15,669 hectare game park in Botswana, which is home to more than 1,700 animals and a field unit for Cheetah Conservation.
Supporting Women in Business
We are proud to support the De Beers Forevermark program under the De Beers Group’s variety of initiatives to help women become successful entrepreneurs in their own right, with the assistance of development funds like Zimele in South Africa and Namibia, and Tokafala in Botswana. These programs provide people in diamond-producing communities with the funding and mentoring they need to grow their own businesses.
A De Beers Forevermark diamond is a conflict-free diamond, handcrafted with care. It is essential to us that your lifelong symbol of love is selected with the utmost respect for the natural world and the people it touches along its journey. Each De Beers Forevermark diamond source must comply with the Kimberley Process, an international monitoring system co-founded by the De Beers Group with the aim of eradicating the trade in conflict diamonds.Ethical sourcing is at the heart of a De Beers Forevermark diamond. We examine the human rights standards, political climate and socio-economic profile of every community which might be a source of De Beers Forevermark diamonds.
